Donau Bellamethan® – Quality that works

With its product features specially adapted to the production process, Donau Bellamethan® optimises the implementation process and ensures safe operation in the biogas facility.
Donau Bellamethan®, the special product to remove H2S, is produced in the Brückl (Kärnten) factory. Using the modern membrane electrolysis method, caustic soda, chlorine and hydrogen gas are manufactured from sodium chloride and water. The majority of the chlorine is ultimately reprocessed to form hydrochloric acid using the hydrogen.
The factory produces up to 90,000 tons of iron chloride and 40,000 tons of polyaluminium chloride each year using hydrochloric acid as a raw material and is one of the largest European manufacturers in the industry.
To produce iron chloride solutions, iron oxide is first dissolved using hydrochloric acid. In the next step of the process, an equivalent, high concentration of FE2+ is added and the excess acid broken down. A targeted process then means that the majority of the undesirable impurities are separated; the trace elements which are desirable for use in biogas plants remain or are added as required. There is then a filtration of the product in order to achieve a clear solution and a uniform quality.
The high proportion of iron and the low heavy metal content make Donau Bellamethan® a quality product which is particularly suitable for use in biogas plants.
In order to remove additional impurities and to improve the quality of the gas, we also offer solutions combined with active carbon filters.
